Our Mission
The mission of Babyderm is twofold - First, to help new parents - both mothers and fathers - bond and nurture their baby through infant massage. Second, to teach parents the best possible way to care for their baby's skin from infancy, instilling good skincare habits and choices from the earliest stage of life.
Babyderm is well equipped to fulfill both these goals. Karen Ballou Knowles,
founder and President of Babyderm, has been in the health and beauty industry
for 20 years, ensuring that Babyderm products are created to be both gentle and
soothing to babies, both mentally and physically. She is also a certified infant
massage therapist who has been teaching the value of touch to moms, dads and
caregivers for the past five years. In her instructional video, The Value of
Touch Infant Massage, Karen gives a no-nonsense approach to making infant
massage rewarding for both parent and child.
According to the University of
Miami Medical School in Florida, the benefits of touch are vital to child and
parent improving the physical and emotional well being of both. Studies have
shown that the benefits of infant massage include:
